Ying Ngan Young was a mother of five, a grandmother of ten, and a great grandmother of sixteen. She died on April 4, 2023 at the age of 96, on the birthday of her oldest daughter.

Ying Ngan was born in China and grew up in Cheong On Village. She was the only daughter of Wah Kin Young and Lan Ho Lai, the only sister of George and Ken Young of Dorchester, MA.

She worked as a seamstress at a garment factory in East Boston until her retirement and was a proud member of the Ladies Garment Workers Union.

She lived with her daughter Susan in Brookline until the age of 92. She was then lovingly cared for at South Cove Manor in Quincy Bay.

In her later years, she loved to recite Chinese poetry, to build lego blocks, and most of all, to take walks around Jamaica Pond.

On Saturday, April 22, 2023, an hour of visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00am immediately followed by a funeral service from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home in Brookline.
