Obituary

William Yee was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 12, 1930 and passed away peacefully on January 2, 2021 due to complications of covid-19. He is the beloved grandfather of Julia and Lauren Grimes who were the spark in his life. Also known as Bill, Grampy and Billy Boy he was a kind and generous man who loved family get togethers, enjoyed hearty meals, drinking beer on the porch, joking around, bowling, playing golf, taking long walks around Coolidge Corner and volunteering with the Saturday Slice and Dice crew at Community Servings. His last residence was Olmsted at the Goddard House. He lived in Coolidge Corner, Brookline, MA for 15 years. Prior to that he lived in Burlington, MA. Bill grew up in Boston's Chinatown and attended the Josiah Quincy Elementary School, the Abraham Lincoln Junior High School in the South End and Boston Technical High School. He completed his electrical engineering degree at Northeastern University. He enlisted in the US Air Force during the Korean War and participated in flights over Korea as radio communications officer, 43rd Troop Carrier Squadron APO 963. He received the Occupation Medal (Japan), Korean Service Medal, Air Crew Member Badge, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal. Bill worked at EG&G, a national defense contractor and was assigned to the project of assessing the remaining radiation, over time, after tests detonating nuclear devices in the Bikini atoll island region and later tested semi-conductors. He is the sixth of eight children of Thomas and Gee Shee Yee of Wenham,MA He leaves behind: daughter, Carolyn Grimes of Brookline And remaining siblings: Rose Wong of Melrose,MA May Lee of Honolulu Hawaii Roy Lee of Andover,MA Ann Yee of Brookline MA David Yee of Wichita, Kansas And is pre-deceased by older siblings, Jessie Toong and Tom Yee Donations in his memory may be made to: Community Servings https://www.servings.org/ Cure for Alzheimer's Fund - https://curealz.org/ Good Shepard Hospice https://gscommunitycare.org/Donate Celebration of life service will be held once large gatherings can be safely held.
