William J. McKeown "Bill" passed away in the early morning hours of March 4, 2026 after a long illness. Bill grew up in Brookline, MA the son of the late James and Margaret McKeown. Bill attended the Brookline Public Schools and graduated in 1959. He was an outstanding athlete and earned a football scholarship to Northeastern University and earned a Graduate Assistantship to Boston University. Bill went on to coach football at several colleges as both an assistant and head coach. He later returned to Brookline where he served as Head Football Coach and Director of Athletics.

Bill was preceded in death by his son William J. McKeown, Jr. and his brother James McKeown. He is survived by his sisters Elizabeth MacDougal, Carol Mahoney and his brother Kevin McKeown, his daughters Holly McKeown and Caelah Spinola, her husband Jesse and their mother Mary McKeown, his sons Adam and Dean McKeown.  Bill had three grandchildren, Noah Spinola and Carley and Dylan McKeown.

Bill has a larger-than-life personality and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bell O'Dea Funeral Home in Brookline, MA. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 11am-1pm.
