Devoted son of the late Grace (Taggart) Ford. Dear brother of Ann-Marie (Sullivan) Basler and husband Frank of Rockland and the late John L. Sullivan and his surviving wife Dotty (Quinn) Sullivan of Walpole. Beloved son-in-law of Theresa J. (O'Leary) Malinn of Brookline and the late James J. "Jim" Malinn. Cherished brother-in-law of James P. and wife Mary of Dedham, John F. of Brookline, Michael J. and wife Vicky of Medway, Kevin G. and wife Mary of Norwood, Francis X. and wife Cristina of West Roxbury, Joanne Malinn Jacobson and husband Robert of Foxboro, Christopher B. and wife Joanna of Walpole and the late Joseph T. Malinn. Also survived by several cherished nieces and nephews. Late member Brookline Firefighters Local 950 IAFF, Brookline FD EMT, Brookline Lodge of Elks # 886, St. Mary Holy Name Society, K of C Council 110, Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Labor Guild and longtime usher and active member of St. Mary's Parish. A true servant leader and man of faith, Walter approached life with tenacity, strength and humility. Revered as a dedicated friend to many, Walter thrived helping others. A devoted family man, Walter found no greater joy than spending time with his wife, daughters and beloved Golden Retriever, Charlie. And, while love pours out of our hearts in honor of this man we adore, we are certain that he is heaven taking part in his favorite pastimes: gardening & sailing on Cape Cod; playing hockey; hosting friends from around the world; cooking up a feast; cracking the latest labor law case; or, brushing up on his medical acumen. Walter (Dad), the world is a better place because of you. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday December 20th from 4:00 – 8:00PM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 5 Linden Pl., Brookline. Funeral at St. Mary of the Assumption Church on Friday December 21st at 9:10AM, followed by Mass at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment Walnut Hills Cemetery.
