Thomas Joseph Kane Jr. passed unexpectedly in his sleep on July 10, 2022 at the age of 87. He will be greatly missed.  Tom was the son of Madeline (Rogers) and Thomas J. Kane Sr. Tom was born in Everett and grew up in Chelsea. He graduated Chelsea High School in 1952 where he played baseball and football. He had a talent for art and went on to graduate Mass College of Art 1957. Tom had careers in advertising and printing through the years but was an entrepreneur at heart and was usually self- employed or starting a new venture. In the 1980's he was the "Sports Cartoonist" for the Boston Herald where he authored cartoons of many iconic sports legends as well as local scholastic superstars. Tom was the creator of the "Birds Eye of Boston" axonometric map that featured detailed drawings of each building of Downtown Boston in a usable tourist map. His latest venture was writing an illustrated book on baseball legends from the beginning of baseball in America. Unfortunately, he never got to finish it. Tom married his wife Cecile T. (Rice) Kane on September 29 1957. They remained married 65 years. In 1957 Tom was drafted into the Army and deployed to Germany. Their first child John Timothy was born on June 12th 1958 in Nuremburg Germany. They then went on to settle in Stoughton MA to raise their family. Tom was a wise and gentle man. He was always ahead of what was going on in the world and loved to share his knowledge of politics and life with his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor. In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by a son, John of Onset his daughter Karin Kern of Brookline, Eric and his wife Theresa of Wrentham, Stephen of Stoughton, Kristin and Tim Stephenson of Brookline. He also leaves a brother John Kane and his wife Joanne of Revere. Hs grandchildren, Briit, Kenidi, AJ, Marissa, Taigue, Spencer, Matthew and his great grandchildren Beckett and Noah. Tom was pre-deceased by his son Thomas J. Kane III, his grandson Nicolas (Cole) Kern and his brother Richard Kane. Interment will be private.
