Stephen Burke, 64 of Stoughton, MA passed away on Monday January 1, 2024. Stephen grew up in Brookline and lived in Button Village. He graduated from Brookline high school and enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving as Security Police. He was charged with guarding the nuclear missiles while stationed at Minot, North Dakota. Upon his honorable discharge Steve was employed in November 1982 with the Brookline Fire Department as a firefighter, a job which he loved deeply. He proudly served the town of Brookline for 33 years until his retirement in October of 2016.

Steve loved watching his Boston Bruins and Red Sox and was an avid fisherman. He often reminisced about his childhood, spending summers in Marshfield at his grandparent's summer cottage and how that paved the way for his love of the ocean. Later in life Steve wouldn't miss an opportunity to enjoy all the coast had to offer, including visits back to the South Shore to visit family and friends. Steve was a twin to his sister Sandy. They often referred to themselves as "Mutt & Jeff" and will be Comrades for Life!

Steve was a devoted family man and always boasted about his 3 children, Ashley, Cameron and Darcy as well as his grandchildren, Jaclyn, Blake, Aubrey & Riley. He loved them dearly and his admiration for them was evident in how highly he spoke of each of them and beamed with pride.

Stephen leaves behind his wife Beverly of Cape Cod, his daughter, Ashley Spearing of Quakertown, PA, his son, Cameron Burke & his daughter Darcy Burke of Swansea, MA, his brother, Michael Burke and his wife Sue of Atlantic Beach, NC, brother, Kevin Burke and his wife Christine of Apollo Beach, FL, sister, Sandra Fowler and her husband Cleon of Conway, SC and brother, John Burke and his wife Tammy of Pembroke, MA. He also leaves scores of nieces and nephews; Sean and Brian Burke, Kelly Burke, Jason Burke, Sheila Duncan, Melisa Pires and Julianna, Hailey & Hunter Burke.

Steve will be sorely missed, and his dry humor and "Dad" jokes will be forever remembered and will bring warm memories to his family for years to come.

Visiting hours will be held in the Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington St., Brookline on Friday January 12th from 3:00 – 7:00. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Funeral Service and Interment will be private.
