Shawn T. Murphy passed away suddenly on July 3, 2026, at the age of 48.

Born and raised in Brookline, Shawn was the beloved son of Christina Murphy and the late Thomas "Skippy" Murphy. He was the devoted brother of Christopher Murphy of Brookline. He is also survived by his uncles, aunts, cousins, and countless friends.

Visiting hours will be held at the Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington Street, Brookline, on Tuesday, July 7th, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.

A Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 8th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 5 Linden Place, Brookline. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO CHURCH

Shawn was a devoted caregiver to his mother, Christina, for many years. Their bond was exceptionally strong — one built on deep love and mutual dedication — and was reflected beautifully in Christina's unwavering advocacy for her son's wellbeing. The love between them was a constant and defining thread throughout his life.

Shawn shared a unique and special relationship with his brother Chris. Though they were opposite in personality, they were bound by a shared set of loyalties that ran deep — complemented by their own individual devotions that made their partnership all the stronger. Their contrasting strengths complemented one another remarkably well, allowing them to navigate whatever came their way and provide their mother with a stable and independent life.

Boston sports were his sanctuary. Through the decades of heartbreak and the years of glory, the teams he loved anchored him and brought him joy. Shawn was also a Brookline athlete in his own right — he played baseball throughout his life and, most recently, basketball. His passion for the game and for competition was a source of pride and joy.

Shawn was a hardworking and dedicated man who took pride in his craft. He worked as a foreman and laborer for several companies across the fields of excavation, fencing, medical gases, and moving — always showing up and giving his best.

Above all, Shawn had a brotherhood. His circle of friends — his Egmont Crew — was unlike any other. They lived by the mantra EOS: Elements of Style. They broke barriers. All races, all backgrounds, united as one. They were, simply, family. They had all attended Devotion School in Brookline, and though life carried them in different directions over the years, distance never weakened what they shared. They were always there for one another — a bond that could not be broken. A different breed, through and through.

Shawn carried a rare and quiet light that touched everyone around him. He was cherished by many and will forever hold a place in the hearts of those he leaves behind. May he rest in eternal peace.
