Obituary

Sandra Lee McNeilly of Brookline (Chestnut Hill), passed away peacefully at home, with family at her side, on February 1, 2018 after a long illness. She was born in Boston in 1947 and was a beloved daughter of the late George F. and Jeannette B. McNeilly, sister of Sally A. Mieras of Florida, Evangeline M. Patey and her husband Fredrick of Needham and Barry S. McNeilly and his wife Linda of Needham. She also leaves eight devoted nieces and nephews; Brandon Patey, Jill Maher, Ashley Baughman, Sarah, Diana, and Eric McNeilly, Kimber Holkenbrook, and Karri Ryan. As well as twelve great nieces and nephews. Sandra, a life long Brookline resident, is a 1965 graduate of Brookline High School and then went on to Boston University Sargent College where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education in 1969. After graduation she taught physical education, health, and coached the girl's track team at the Ahern Middle School in Foxborough retiring in 2005 after teaching 37 years. She was a long time member of Longwood Cricket Club where she enjoyed playing tennis and recently the game of bridge. She also enjoyed baking, swimming, skiing (water and snow), and was an avid golfer in Brookline and Cape Cod. Being a typical New Englander, Sandra was a passionate fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and the Boston Bruins for which she has been a season ticket holder for over 40 years. She not only loved professional sports she was a fixture at her nieces and nephews youth and high school sporting events. Sandra loved to travel the United States and abroad with friends and especially family. Sandra mastered photography, picture framing, and cake decorating through Brookline's adult education courses. Her many dogs gave her comfort and joy over her lifetime. Visiting hours will be on Sunday February 4th from 1:00 - 4:00. in the Bell O'Dea Funeral Home at 376 Washington Street, Brookline. A Service will be at the First Presbyterian Church located at 32 Harvard St, Brookline (Please use Holden St. entrance) on Monday February 5th at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Neads Service Dogs for Veterans, P.O. 1100, Princeton, MA 01541
