With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Roy Sung, age 32, on March 23, 2025. Born in Chicago on November 25, 1992, Roy was the beloved son of Mike Sung and the late Young Lee Sung, and the cherished brother of Jennifer Sung. He leaves behind his loyal pet companion Shelby, who brought joy to his life.

A dedicated swim coach and talented software engineer, Roy was a graduate of Wayland High School and Carnegie Mellon University. He was a talented swimmer and held numerous records and top times in New England swimming and at Carnegie Mellon. His passion for swimming led him to return to his roots at Shawmut Aquatic Club, where he became a highly respected coach. Roy dedicated himself to shaping the lives of young swimmers, nurturing their potential with care and devotion. He found immense joy in guiding others and was a positive influence on everyone he worked with. Roy will be deeply missed by his loving family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Roy had a passion for life and enjoyed a wide range of interests, including swimming, coaching, anime, action movies, and Patriots football. He was interested in cooking and loved Korean BBQ. Those who knew Roy knew he had a heart of gold, prioritizing the needs of others and offering support wherever it was needed. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to others will never be forgotten.

A wake to celebrate Roy's life will be held at the BELL-O'DEA Funeral Home, located at 376 Washington Street, Brookline, MA, on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
