Obituary

Paul F May Sr., 86 of Natick, formerly of Brookline. Beloved husband of Linda J. May and his first wife the late Joan Kennedy May. He served as Director of Development for the Massachusetts Port Authority under Edward J. King and acted as his Campaign Manager for King's successful bid for governor in 1978. Paul ran his own real estate development company until the mid-1980s and worked for many years as a real estate consultant. He was a native of Brookline and one of nine children. He attended Brookline High School where he excelled at football and baseball. He graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 1954. In his junior year, he married the late Joan Kennedy and upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Marine Corps officer at Camp Pendleton in California. Upon his honorable discharge, they returned to Brookline where they raised their nine children. Joan died in 1987 after a long illness. Paul married his second wife Linda and they spent many happy years together living in Natick. Paul is survived by his wife Linda and his nine children: Susan Leaver of Chestnut Hill, Marcia Kean of West Roxbury, Paula Duggan of Chestnut Hill, Paul May Jr. of West Roxbury, Lisa Richards of Chestnut Hill, Peter May of Barrington, RI, Jennifer Canty of West Roxbury, Stephanie Giroux of Westwood, and Amy Holmes of Swampscott; 31 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; his brother the Honorable Thomas May of Brookline, his sister Joan Pagliarulo of West Roxbury, Lillian McSwiney of West Roxbury, and Patricia Harris of Brookline. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM Wednesday at Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home: 376 Washington Street, Brookline. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary's of the Assumption Church on Thursday at 10 AM. Internment will be at Walnut Hills Cemetery: 96 Grove Street, Chestnut Hill. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Anthony's Shrine: 100 Arch Street, Boston.
