Mark Conry passed away peacefully at home in Dedham, MA on September 14, 2021. Born on October 14, 1948, Mark grew up the 9th of 10 children born to Charles and Irene Conry of Brookline, MA. He matriculated through the Brookline school system, from Lawrence School to Brookline High School, into Northeastern University where he graduated with a master's degree in education. After an honorable discharge from the Army National Guard, Mark returned to Lawrence School to teach 5th grade and later 6th grade—he taught there for over 30 years. Mark was a longtime member of the Brookline Elks Club (lodge #886) where he navigated several times through the ranks to the role of Exalted Ruler (or "Exhausted Rooster," as he called it). Mark is survived by his daughters, Michelle Morita Conry and Meredith Conry; his son (never called "son-in-law"), Kelley Morita; his sisters, Arlene Curtin, Charlotte Seaman, and Karen "K.C." Hess; his angel, Dean Conry, as well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins—in other words, a large extended family; his sweet pup, Lyric; his grandpup, Phoebe; and his beloved La-Z-Boy recliner. Champ and best friend to Michelle, baseball buddy and beacon to Meredith, Mark was one of the most underrated members of the vast Conry clan. He fostered his own reputation for being cantankerous, grumpy, monosyllabic, and tight with a buck. Those who knew him best understood that he was secretly generous, a consummate storyteller, and a sentimental marshmallow. Mark loved the Red Sox, the Patriots, his kids, his dog, a good television procedural, the Sunday Jumble, humpback whales, moccasins, souvenir t-shirts, Jameson's, an argument, Olivia Benson, education, lobster bisque, M*A*S*H, books, the Elks, This Old House, and terrible jokes—not necessarily in that order. He is already dearly missed.
