Obituary

Marie Garrone Fitzgibbon of Dedham, formerly of Brookline, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2021 at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her late husbands Arthur Garrone and Jack Fitzgibbon. She is survived by her sister, Gloria Alvino, four children, Denise Hebert (and husband Phil), Arthur Garrone (and wife Frances Moss), Andrea Muraida, and Lisa Garrone, and her five grandchildren, Marc Hebert (and husband Matthew Manzi), Lauren Hebert, Steven Garrone,, Emily Muraida, and Oliver Garrone-Rounds. Marie was born in Revere, MA on February16, 1926, the fourth of five children to the late Alfonso and Mary (Scotti) Alvino. Every Sunday, Marie joined her parents and siblings to visit extended family-a tradition Marie cherished, and one she would continue with her husband and children. Marie's love of music accompanied her devotion to her family. Blessed with a beautiful voice, Marie embarked upon her musical journey in grade school, where she joined the children's choir, singing in both Latin and English. Voice lessons, piano lessons, and music school led to Marie's acceptance into the Handel and Hayden Society at age 20. After singing with Handel and Hayden for a number of years, Marie left to focus on raising her four children with her beloved late husband, Arthur Garrone. While caring for her family, Marie worked as the soloist at St Anthony's Church in Revere and also directed the children's choir at St Theresa's. When she moved to Brookline in 1963, Marie joined St Mary's where she sang for more than 40 years, first as soloist and then, in her later years, as a choir member. She also enjoyed singing with the Brookline Community Chorus, and spent summers singing with the Berkshire Choral Festival. Marie expressed her creativity in other talents, as well; she loved floral arranging, and was an active member of the Southern Brookline Garden Club where she also served as President. Her delicious meals and knack for entertaining brought extended family and friends to gather around her table for holidays and family celebrations. Indeed, those who were blessed to have known Marie were struck by the love and warmth with which she welcomed all into her home and dedicated herself to her family, and the honesty and integrity with which she lived out her life.
