With profound sadness we announce the passing of Maria del Carmen Perez Ramos on January 7, 2023. She was born in Talavera (Spain) on January 12, 1935 and spent most of her life in Madrid. Along with her parents and three siblings, she worked for 20 years at the family-owned hotel in Madrid as the manager and accountant. She married Miguel Ruiz Rizo in 1969 who preceded her in death in 2004. In 2013 she moved to Brookline to live with her daughter Begoña, son-in-law Bill, and grandson Michael.

Maria del Carmen loved traveling and hosting gatherings for family and friends. She had a passion for the visual arts, particularly theater, films, and dance, and was regularly seen oil painting and sewing. She was a loving mother and "Yaya" and adored every moment spent with her grandson. She was also a maternal figure to her nieces and nephews and many of her daughter's friends (they called her "mama Carmen"). All whom loved her dearly will never forget her mental strength, determination, analytical nature, natural elegance, and sharp sense of humor.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, January 21st from 9:00 am to 10:45 am, in the Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home (376 Washington St, Brookline) followed by a funeral Mass at 11 am in Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish (5 Linden Pl, Brookline).

Con profunda tristeza anunciamos el fallecimiento de Maria del Carmen Perez Ramos el 7 de enero de 2023. Nació en Talavera (España) el 12 de enero de 1935 y vivió gran parte de su vida en Madrid. Junto con sus padres y tres hermanos, trabajo durante 20 años en el hotel familiar en Madrid donde ejerció de encargada y contable. En 1969 contrajo matrimonio con Miguel Ruiz Rizo, quien falleció en 2004. En 2013 se trasladó a Brookline para vivir con su hija Begoña, yerno Bill y nieto Michael.

A Maria del Carmen le encantaba viajar y organizar reuniones para familiares y amigos. Sentía pasión por las artes visuales, especialmente el teatro, el cine y la danza y frecuentemente pintaba al óleo y cosía. Era un magnifica madre y Yaya y adoraba cada momento que pasaba con su nieto. También era una figura maternal para sus sobrinos y muchos de los amigos de su hija que la llamaban "mama Carmen". Todos los que la queríamos recordaremos su fuerza mental, determinación, curiosidad, elegancia natural y sentido del humor.

La familia y amigos están invitados a visitarnos el sábado 21 de enero de 9:00 am a 10:45 am en Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home (376 Washington St, Brookline) y a la misa que se celebrará a las 11 am en Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish (5 Linden Pl, Brookline).
