Margie Estelle Mendez (Taylor) was born in Baltimore, MD on January 17, 1939, to Mary L. Epps and Thomas Campbell. She passed away surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren on April 5, 2025. She was 86.

Margie graduated from Robert R. Moton High School in Farmville Virginia, as the Assistant Secretary to the class of 1957. The following year, she moved to Boston, Massachusetts where she raised her family of six children alongside her loving husband, Rafael Mendez. In the summer of 1977, they moved their family to Brookline, Massachusetts where she resided until her untimely passing.

Margie was a lover of sports! She was a bowler, a Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walker, and a dedicated member of Red Sox and Patriots Nation. She enjoyed Monday night Bingo, Friday night card games, Saturday night dances with Rafie, and Scrabble tournaments with her children.

Margie embodied the caregiver spirit. She would open her home to ailing relatives and dear friends, nursing and supporting them through their recovery. When caring for her grandchildren, she would also provide daycare for the children of friends and neighbors. In recent years, Margie's boundless energy and devotion fueled her as the primary caregiver for her husband, Rafael.

Margie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Rafael Mendez; her 6 Loves, Marty Branch (Whitney), Didi Everett (Bill), Carla Beckett, Keith McCarthy (Candida), Rolando Mendez (Lauren), and Yolanda Mendez Rainey (Dan); her cousin Jean Epps, her brothers Robert Parron and Thomas Campbell (Phyllis); and her darling grandchildren, Marliquea, Dallas, Marisa, Lee, Sophia, Marty II, Sabrina (Gene), Martia, Corey, Bryson, Briah, Baylee, Kaydence, Keith Jr, Mason, Savannah, and Ainsley; as well as 16 great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

All who knew Margie will miss her warm smile, kindness, and giving spirit.

Visiting hours will be held at the Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington St., Brookline on Thursday, April 17 from 4:00p – 7:00p (Eulogy at 5:30p).

Committal will be held on Friday, April 18. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to join the procession from Bell-O'Dea at 11:45am to Walnut Hills Cemetery, Brookline for Committal at 12 noon.
