Obituary

Margie Richardson, adored sister, aunt, great aunt and friend, passed away June 6, 2024, at her group home in Brookline, Massachusetts, at the age of 64. Margie was born on June 14, 1959, in Boston, Massachusetts, spent her childhood and early adulthood in Chestnut Hill and the past 27 years at her group home on Washington Street. She was loved by all who knew her.

Margie's infectious smile and effervescent personality touched so many lives. Margie was loved not only by her large family, eight housemates and live-in staff at her group home, but also by generations of Boston College students and coworkers from 43 years working in the Corcoran Commons Lower Campus Dining Hall and co-artists and teachers for 27 summers at Gateway Arts in Brookline Village. Her dedication to her work and creativity as well as her determination and cheerful attitude in the face of challenges and adversity was memorable. After she graduated from Brookline High School, Margie travelled with her mother to almost every country in the world, Japan being her favorite. Swimming in the ocean, be it cold or warm, rough, or still was one of her favorite pastimes.

Margie will be deeply missed by her older sisters Anne, Alison and Emilie, sister-in-law Serina, her nieces and nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph P. Richardson and Magaret 'Peggy' Richardson, and older brothers Joseph P. Jr, Randolph and Philip (Steve) Richardson.

A funeral mass in memory of Margie will be held on Monday June 17th at 11 AM at St. Lawrence Church 774 Boylston Street Brookline, MA. There will be refreshments after the service.

Contributions in honor of Margie may be made to Specialized Housing 2000 Commonwealth Ave. Auburndale, MA 02466 or to Gateway Arts 62 Harvard Street Brookline, MA 02445.
