Margaret L.
"Margie" Marhul
Feb 8, 1923 — Oct 31, 2024
Margaret "Margie" Marhul passed peacefully on 10/31/2024 in her home with devoted caregivers at her side after a brief battle with metastatic cancer. Margie was predeceased by her parents Antony and Birdie Marhul, her brother Joseph Marhul, and her life-long best friend and "sister" Ellen Fitzgerald. Margie is survived by loving members of Ellen's family including nephews Michael & David Connor, niece Marianne (Connor) Savastano, and dear friend Joan Crowley.
Margie grew up in Amesbury, Massachusetts and she loved learning and was always looking for an adventure. She enlisted in the US Navy branch known as the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) in 1943. Margie was a proud veteran of the US Navy with an honorable discharge in 1946. Through her work with the US Navy, Margie became certified as both a Radiology Technician and a Laboratory Technician and worked in medical facilities in New York, Maryland, Texas, and Louisiana, before settling back in Massachusetts. Margie met her great friend Ellen when they were both working at Choate Memorial Hospital in Woburn, and they stayed by one another's side as they earned degrees from Northeastern University, pursued successful careers in medical records at some of Boston's finest hospitals, and traveled to places such as Ireland, Australia, Japan, and New Zealand.
In honor of Margie, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society.
