Lavinia Burns Jenkins, 92, of Boston, most recently of Brookline, MA peacefully passed away on January 10, 2018. She was born on December 14, l925 in Jersey City, NJ, the daughter of May E. Burns. She graduated from New Jersey College for Women (now Douglass College) in 1947. Three days later, she married Donald Jenkins, a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran she met while they were taking an astronomy course at Rutgers. They were married for almost 62 years until his death in 2009. She lived in PA, ME, MI, NJ, NH and MA. While living in Phillisburg, NJ, she was active in the West Minster Church; sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and was a trustee. She tested products, mainly new cars, for Consumers Research with husband Donald. They moved to Gilmanton Iron Works, NH in 1987 to be closer to family when Don retired When she became a widow in 2009, she moved to Center Communities of Brookline in Brookline, MA and was an active member of the book, knitting and womens groups as well as served on the resident council, and volunteered at the front desk and caf. She was a member of St. Pauls Church in Brookline. A dessert queen, and avid reader, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, and needlepoint. She will be remembered for her positive outlook, and her home was always welcome to her childrens friends. Her family was her joy. She leaves behind, Winnie Rubino and her husband, Richard of Brookline, MA, Ralph Jenkins and his wife, Terri of Germantown, NY, and Rachel Ciemiecki of Worcester, VT. A daughter, Gail Patricia predeceased her in 1971. She also leaves 4 grandchildren: Jamie Moore, Janell Ciemiecki, Ryan Rubino, Blair Ciemiecki and 5 great-grandchildren. Visitation and funeral service to be held on January 13 at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 15 St. Paul Street, Brookline, MA. Visitation from 1:30-2:30 followed by a service of Christian burial at 3:00 pm. Interment will be in the Spring at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilmanton Iron Works, NH.
