Laurence Keohane, March 17, 1938 - March 13, 2021. It is with great sadness the family of Laurence Keohane—"Laurie" to his family, and "Larry" to his friends—announces his death in Wingate, Chestnut Hill on March 13. Laurie was born at home in Chestnut Hill, Newton to John S. Keohane and M. Agatha Swan Keohane; he was the youngest of nine children. He attended Mount Alvernia Academy and spent his secondary years at Lawrence Academy in Groton, MA. He went to Brown University and graduated from Suffolk University in Boston. Laurie trained at the Fort Dix army base, New Jersey and served in the National Guard. He retired from Conrail Consolidated Rail Corporation in 1999 and lived in Brookline and Brighton until he went to the Wingate facility. While in school, he spent his summers at the Rindge, New Hampshire cottage where he enjoyed boating and made many friendships. His favorite past times were reading, horse racing, and spending time in Florida during the winter. He took up golf in his later years. Laurie was predeceased by his brothers and sisters: M. Agatha Carroll; John S. Keohane, Jr.; Barbara Houlihan Cole; Thomas S. Keohane; Patricia A. Keohane; Joseph P. Keohane; Marie B. Finnegan; and Frank X. Keohane. He leaves his sister-in-law Marilyn C. Keohane and many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. The family thanks our cousin, Jim Keohane, and his partner Debbie Barnes for their attentive care to our uncle in his later years. He will be missed. Visitation will be held in the Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington St. Brookline, on Friday morning from 9:00 – 10:30 followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Brookline at 11:00.
