Kantaben Chokshi passed away peacefully on the afternoon of July 11th 2021, at the age of 96. She is remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She is survived by her daughter, Pratima, her granddaughter Puja, her grandson-in-law Ankit, and her great grandchildren Dylan and Ethan. Kantaben was born in Petlad, Gujarat, India, on October 16, 1924. She spent much of her life in Kolkata, India before moving to the United States. She took on the role of the matriarch of her family when her husband passed away, raising her daughter and supporting the family as an elementary school teacher. Through her efforts, she was able to send her daughter to Fordham University in New York for a graduate education. She ultimately joined her daughter in America, helping to raise her granddaughter, and help her great-grandchildren learn about the culture and ideals that shaped her. She is remembered as a strong woman, true to her ideals, and committed to giving all of herself as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. A celebration of Kantaben's life will be held at a later date. She will be missed dearly by all those who knew her and remembered always.
