SAYLOR, Joseph W. "Joe". Of Roslindale, formerly of Winchester, passed away after a brief illness on April 6, 2022. Loving son of the late Joseph W. and Shelby (Cook) Saylor, and dear brother of the late John V.C. Saylor. Joe is survived by his devoted friend, and faithful caregiver, Lisa Hines of Boston, friend and former partner Debbi Hines-Auerbach of Watertown, the extended Hines family, his sister-in-law Georgia Saylor, his niece Elizabeth Saylor, and nephew John Saylor, all of Boston. Joe was a graduate of the Winchester High School Class of 1972, where he was an honor student, and talented member of the men's gymnastics team. A short time later, Joe had a life-altering motorcycle accident where he severed his spinal cord, and would remain a wheelchair-user for the rest of his life. His paraplegia, (in the pre-ADA world) did not stop him from attending Northeastern University where he earned his Associate in Engineering degree while working for the then-new RIDE program at the MBTA. He later went on to earn his Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree at Northeastern University, where he was inducted into the Tau Alpha Pi National Honor Society, and received the Alumni Award for Professional Promise from the Lincoln College of Northeastern University. Joe was a Computer Programmer for the Polaroid Corporation until his retirement. Joe was gifted in technology and computer sciences, and would use his skills as a hobby, building computers at home, and being able to fix 'anything" electronic. He also found joy in his extensive and varied music collection, and was a trophy-winning Billiards player. There will be a gathering to honor Joe at a later date.
