AHEARN, Joseph L. "Joe". Of Quincy, formerly of South Boston and Roslindale. Passed away after a brief illness on March 20, 2026 at the age of 86. Loving son of the late Edmund "Fast Eddie" and Margaret "Peg" (McCarthy) Ahearn. Devoted brother of Paul D. Ahearn, (Ret. Dep. Supt. Boston EMS ) of Boston and the late Edmund Ahearn, Mary "Judy" Ahearn and Robert F. Ahearn, (Ret. Detective Boston PD). Dear Uncle of Robert J. Ahearn (MSP Retired) and his fiancé Nina Ficaro Rago of Winthrop, John E. Ahearn and his wife Susan of Foxboro, Catherine T. Hardy and her husband Paul of Norwood, Laureen M. Flahive and her husband Michael of Marshfield, Michael P. Ahearn of Boston and Kimberly Ahearn of No. Brookfield. Also survived by many grand nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Joe was a longtime Substance Abuse Counselor for the City of Boston and traveled to many parts of the world to help those less fortunate seeking treatment from substance abuse. He was a quiet and kind man who never judged but always looked to understand and educate others. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served his country.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Joe's Memorial Mass in The Holy Name Church, 1689 Centre Street, West Roxbury on Saturday March 28, 2026 at 10:00 o'clock.
