Johnny with his favorite guitar, has played his last song here on earth and left us to join his parents Marie(née Costello) and Paul Sullivan. He was born and raised in Brookline, a proud Brookline High School graduate and resident of Allston .

He is pre-deceased by his parents, his step-father Lt. Edward Shaughnessy (BFD)and his siblings William Sullivan and Patricia (née Sullivan)DiClemente

He leaves behind his oldest Sister Jeanne ( née Sullivan) Dahlberg McKenna, his many loving nieces/nephews: William Sullivan, Julie Wolfe, Theola Gelerman, Jema McDougal, Arik Dahlberg and Sonja Dahlberg. He also will be incredibly missed by his many great nieces/nephews. Additionally, John is beloved by many people he held dear in his residence building and the Brookline/Allston community.

John was a prolific musician with a fabulous sense of humor and was proud of recording his first album with his brother when they moved to Nevada in the 70's. During this time while making music, John also became an expert slot machine technician. It filled his days with humor watching all the action in the casinos and ga e hi the most hilarious stories of Reno/Vegas in its heyday. John together with childhood Brookline friends, Paul Moroney, Larry Schultz and Dave Sullivan formed a band and were frequent players at all of Boston's local clubs, back when the Allston/Brighton/Kenmore Square hotspots were places for musicians and great music.

He was a helper to many and they would attest to his enormous charitable heart. He was known to his neighbors as a lover of animals and first to help offer to care for the pets of his friends in need. He was a furry foster Dad to dozens of cats and dogs. Over his life, John has used enormous personal funds to pay for veterinary services for so many neighborhood pets in need. Adhering to his wishes, there will be no formal services and John would want everyone to do acts of kindness in his name. Also, the family would cherish stories of John on the tribute wall.
