O'BRIEN, John F. Lieutenant Brookline Fire Dept. (ret.) of Brookline passed away peacefullyon December 29, 2023 into the loving arms of his beloved wife of 65 years, Marguerite "Pegee" (Daley) O'Brien. Loving father of Kathy and Paul Sullivan of Brookline, Sean and Candie O'Brien of Norwood, Beth and Paul Pender of Westwood, Cindy and her late husband Jimmy McLaughlin of Medford, Marie and Bobby Donovan of Weymouth, Julie and Brian Bain of Walpole, David and Heidi O'Brien of Westwood, Helena and Scott Stacey of Westwood and the late Kerry Michael and Christopher O'Brien. Devoted son of the late Martin F. and Helena O'Brien. Dear brother of the late Marie Heymann. Also survived by his eighteen cherished grandchildren, ten adored great-grandchildren, his sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington St., Brookline on Friday January 5th at 9:00 followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Church at 10:00. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours in the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Late Navy Veteran Korean War, where he proudly served his country on the USS Robert H. McCard, DD-822.
