Obituary

John "Jack" Francis Clancy, 98, passed away February 16, 2021. He was born October 22, 1922 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late William F. and Mary Ellen (Phillips) Clancy. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Rose (Snow) Clancy and siblings, William, Paul, Thomas, and Marie (Doherty) Clancy. John served our country in the US Army as a 1st Sergeant, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired after 28 years with Symmons Engineering and began his snowbird residency 20 years ago in Sarasota, Florida from Newburyport, Massachusetts. He was a Catholic and a member of the Local Union 223 of Dorchester, the Eastern Draft Horse Association, and the Civil War Round Table Association. John loved to dance, go on cruises, exploring, woodworking, and was an accomplished finish carpenter. Left to cherish his memory are his loving partner of 33 years, Marilyn Dalzell; daughter, Colleen P. Costa and her husband Joseph; and Carol M. Gaudreau; son, Michael J. Clancy and his wife Karen; grandchildren, James, Courtney, Julie, Rachel and her husband Patrick, Amanda and her husband Sean, and Angela; great grandchildren, Brett, Lilly, Anna, Jack, and Luke. Services will be held Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM at Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington Street, Brookline, MA 02445. A private burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.
