SULLIVAN, John F. "Jack", was born and lived in Brookline, lived in Waltham, worked in Boston and Cambridge, and passed in Colrain on May 27, 2024, at 91. He was survived by his sister Helen T. Studd of Easton, predeceased by his sister Maryjean DelRosso of Heath, and his brothers Richard G. Sullivan, Detective in the Brookline Police Department, and James J. Sullivan, USMC, killed in action in the Korean War, and his mother (Mema) Helen T. (Murtagh) Sullivan and his father (Papa) James J. Sullivan, both from Ireland.

Jack served in the US Army, 57th Tank Battalion, 2nd Armored Division "Hell on Wheels" stationed in Garlstedt, West Germany. Jack's creative talents are legendary. He went to the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Design. He was an artist, graphic designer, machinist, and professional model-maker. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, auto mechanics, treasure hunting, fresh-water fishing, audio electronics, residential construction, photography, crossword puzzles, and playing the accordion.

He was cherished by his family, neighbors, work associates, fellow artists and creators, and
a vast community of friends - and especially two generations of nieces and nephews - who all experienced his dry wit, curiosity, constant support, guidance, teachings, empathy, and love. He was affectionately known as "Uncle Jack" to the old-timers, and "Papa Jack" to the younger generation, and to everyone else, he was just "Jack". If he told you to "Shape Up", that meant he cared deeply about you.

Visitation on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024, starting at 10:45 AM at Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington St, Brookline, MA. At noon we will all proceed to Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, 3 Linden Place, Brookline, MA for the Funeral Mass. From there, we will all proceed to the Holyhood Cemetery, 584 Heath St., Brookline, MA for his burial.

All relatives and friends are kindly invited. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of his older brother James J Sullivan, USMC, Brookline MA, for the Korean War Veterans Memorial Foundation in Washington DC.
