Jesus Morea Zalba 11/8/1931 to 10/15/2023
Jesus Morea, 91, of Brookline, MA, formerly of Concord, Meredith and Gilmanton Iron Works, NH, beloved husband of Isabel Alonso and loving father of Ann Morea, passed away on October 15, 2023, surrounded by his loving and grateful family after a brief illness.
Jesus was born in Aoiz, Navarra, Spain on November 8, 1931. He was one of seven children. At an early age he joined a Capuchin school and later their seminary where among other things he enjoyed being the choir director. Jesus was ordained as a Capuchin priest in 1955 and spent two years in Rome, Italy, getting his doctorate in Canon Law. He then spent time in the Philippines working as a priest and educator, and received his Doctorate in Psychology.
After leaving the priesthood, he was a psychologist for the NH State Hospital and State Prison in Concord, NH, where he worked for almost three decades. In 1973 he married Lilian Morea (Smith) of Laconia, NH, and welcomed daughter, Ann, in 1975. He greatly enjoyed working on his homes and land, particularly his log cabin and lake home. After the passing of his first wife Lilian, he later married Isabel Alonso of Brookline, MA, in 2007. Jesus and Isabel enjoyed spending time in Gandia, Spain, watching Spanish soccer games and spending time with their grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Jesus continued to be a very devout Catholic and deeply spiritual man. The Eucharist was a centerpiece of his life and he loved walking to daily mass at his parish.
Jesus is survived by his wife Isabel, his daughter Ann, her husband Carlos Perez, step-daughter Keri Hannagan, and four grandchildren: Gabriela, Rebecca, Braeden and Javier. He is also survived by his brother, Gabino, and sister, Maria Socorro, of Spain and many nieces and nephews.
