Jean Marie (Barta) Vachon of Brookline (formerly of Avon) passed away suddenly and peacefully at home on May 6, 2026 at the age of 71.

Born in Boston, the second daughter of the late Alexander and Marcella Barta (Bowen), Jeani was the welcomed little sister to Carol Ann. The family moved from Dorchester to Avon in Jeani's early years.

Jeani attended school in Avon and graduated with the Class of 1973. She went on to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. She did her student nursing at the Brigham & Women's Hospital and nursed there for over 35 years. She worked in the Bone Marrow Transplant unit where her kind, caring nature and professional skills brightened the day of her critically ill patients.

Jeani is survived by her loving sister Carol Ann Waters of Australia and brother-in-law Peter and a group of lifelong girlfriends.

A Memorial Service celebrating Jeani's life will be held at the Bell O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington St, Brookline on Tuesday May 19 from 2:30-4:30, relatives and friends are kindly invited.
