James Austin Curtin Jr., 69, passed away July 29, 2021 after a sudden and brief battle with cancer. He was born June 19th, 1952 in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. He was the beloved son of James A. Curtin and Ellen J. (Smyth) Curtin. He attended schools in Brookline and was a 1970 graduate of Brookline High School. After high school, he attended Boston College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Marketing in 1974. He later went on to pursue his MBA in finances from Babson College, graduating in 1979. He was an avid Boston sports fan, always cheering on the Red Sox and the Patriots. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing a round of golf, and sharing a cold one with his friends. James is survived and sadly missed by his two daughters, Kate Curtin and Deirdre Curtin of Brighton, and his sister Kathleen Curtin of Chestnut Hill. Funeral form the Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington St., Brookline on Wednesday morning Aug. 4th at 9:10 followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Lawrence Church, 774 Boylston Chestnut Hill at 10:00. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours in the funeral home on Tuesday Aug. 3rd from 4:00 – 7:00. Interment Holyhood Cemetery on 584 Heath St in Chestnut Hill.
