Henry Arthur Bayard of Carlsbad CA, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of October 23rd, 2024.  He was 80 years old.

Born to Arthur James and Estelle Lorraine Bayard on January 5th, 1944, Henry grew up in New York and New Jersey with his only sibling, sister Caroline. As a young man he attended Seton Hall University in New Jersey, and later the University of Pennsylvania where he earned a Master's Degree in the new field of Computer Science.

While a graduate student, Henry met and married Susan MacDonald Bayard, and upon graduating he took a job with the MITRE Corporation in Bedford, MA. There, he and Susan raised their four children, Peter, David, Marianne and John, all of whom survive him. He remained at MITRE until his retirement in 2011 and was regarded fondly by his peers.

His 30-year marriage to Susan ended in 2000 and later that year he married Sharon Falcone, who remained a meaningful presence for the remainder of his life, though hers was sadly cut short only two years later. In 2005 he married Colleen Pierro, settling in Andover MA, and helped raise her twin children, Frank and Christina. In 2020, he and Colleen divorced and Henry moved to Carlsbad, California where he spend his time with his son Peter's family and enjoyed a daily routine of strolling along the beach in the early morning hours.

While he was a quiet, reserved man in most ways, Henry adored his extended family and was always happiest when he was amongst them. His quirky sense of humor, unbidden advice, and constant desire to consume and share news with any who would listen, will be missed.

He is survived by his former wife Susan and their children Peter (Meg), David (Trina), Marianne (Hide), and John (Kate), and grandchildren Collin, Hanna, Riley, Jackson, Madeline, Annabelle and Abel, former wife Sharon Falcone's children, Jenny and Marc (Jess), and former wife Colleen Pierro and her children, Frank (Sarah) and Christina (Tadgh).

Henry is buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Chelmsford, MA; A memorial service is planned for Saturday March 22nd at The Andover Inn, 4 Chapel Ave., Andover, Massachusetts from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Please see invitation below.
