Gene Michael Hannigan, born on November 10, 1949, and died unexpectedly on March 25, 2026 from heart failure.

He was the loving son of the late Eugene and Catherine (Kay)(Gallagher) Hannigan.  He is survived by his girlfriend Kim Rice of Somerville. Brother Edward and wife Victoria Stratton of Middleboro, Lori (Gormley) and Stephen of Stoughton and son Brett.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Gene was sober in AA 41 years and helped many others.  He facilitated monthly AA meetings at the Veterans center in Boston for many years.

Visitation will be held in the Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington St., Brookline on Thursday April 16th from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.

Burial will be private.
