Obituary

MEADE, Frederick P. "Max," of Chestnut Hill, formerly of Brookline, passed peacefully at the age of 94 on March 19, 2023. He is predeceased by his wife, Josephine "Josie" T. (Duggan) Meade, with whom he shared over 48 years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Frederick, Thomas, Peter, Mary Meade Ambrefe, and her late husband, Brian. Loving grandfather of Lyndon, Avery, Julie, Courtney, and Molly.




Born in Brookline, he was the youngest child of the late Elizabeth and Arthur Meade. He is predeceased by two brothers, William Meade and Fr. Henry Meade. He is survived by his sister-in-law Caroline "Bonnie" Powell of Duxbury, and her husband, Hugh Verne Powell. He was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.




He graduated from St. Mary's High School in Brookline and served in the Army in Germany and Korea. He then served for over 35 years in the Brookline Police Department, retiring as a sergeant.




Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass on Friday March 24th at 10:00 AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Brookline. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery West Roxbury, MA. Visiting hours have been omitted.
