Ellen Mahony age 86 passed away at home surrounded by loving family after a courageous battle against cancer on April 4, 2021. She is now reunited with her late husband Tom and her favorite faithful pal "Rocky". If you had the pleasure of meeting her then you know how important family was to her. Always a smile for everyone with a great sense of humor and charisma. Her famous lemon pound cake and chicken and rice dish is outstanding. With her positive attitude no matter what life threw at her she would overcome it. Ellen worked full time till age 80 as an executive secretary at Pneumo Dynamics and Northland Investments Company. Ellen's involvement with PTA left lasting memories with children from Lincoln School, Brookline. She was a wonderful cook. After a long day at work the first meal she cooked was for "Rocky" the family dog. She dressed fabulously with hair and makeup always perfect. She taught us the value of hard work, perseverance and coupon shopping. Beloved wife of late Thomas D. Mahony of Brookline. She is the Loving mother to Donna, Dennis Sr., David Mahony. Caring Grandmother to Dennis Jr., Meredith, Thomas, Stephen Mahony and Erin DiStolfo (Marc). Cherished Great Gram to James, Gabriella, Aubrey, Tinsley and Alicia. Cherished Daughter of the late Thomas and Katherine (Casey) Murphy. Sister of Anne Davis (William), Katie Hanifin (James), Thomas Murphy (Charlotte), Mary Christian, Pat Giddings (late Arthur) and the late Margaret Christensen (surviving husband Richard), Also survived by many sisters in laws and brother in laws, nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday April 11th in the Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington St., Brookline from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. (COVID-19 guidelines will be followed in the funeral with use of social distancing and facial coverings.)
