Frey, Ellen May of Stoughton, formerly of North Easton, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026.  Loving and devoted mother of Erika Doebeli of Roslindale, Suzanne Samowski and her husband Kurt of Braintree, Linda Baumberger and her husband Martin of Port Elgin, Ontario, and the late Heinz M. Frey.

Cherished grandmother of Michael Baumberger, Samuel Baumberger, and Philippa Payne, all of Ontario. Callum Samowski, Silvi Samowski of Braintree, and the late Gabriel Baumberger.

Dear sister of the late Malcolm MacRae.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Indiana.

Ellen was born in Greenwich, Connecticut, on March 29, 1941, the daughter of the late Margaret (Watson) and Malcolm MacRae. She was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School and New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing. Ellen found her calling at Old Colony Hospice and loved working there for over 25 years. Mom raised four kids, mostly as a single mother, three successful daughters, and a son who passed at age 18 in an accident.

Ellen loved her grandkids more than anything. But she was also passionate about liberal politics, Boston sports teams, and plants and gardening.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 740 Liberty Street in Braintree, Massachusetts, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. All are welcome.
