Ebenezer Sunanda passed away on April 8, 2016 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital after a short illness. He was 88 years old. Ebenezer (Eb) is survived by his wife, Rosa Pareja-Sunanda, his daughter, Elizabeth Witmer, son-in-law, Tom Witmer, and 2 grandchildren, Paul and Ruthie Witmer. Ebenezer's extended family includes Eduardo and Luz Novoa of Santiago, Chile, as well as Miriam James of Hoskote, India. Eb was born in India's Karnataka State in 1927. He earned an undergraduate degree in business administration. While in his 30's, Eb emigrated to the United States to continue his education. He earned multiple Masters Degrees: first at Iliff School of Theology (Denver), then Butler University (Indianapolis), and finally at Boston University. A Greater Boston resident for over 40 years, Ebenezer worked for John Hancock Insurance Company as a pension consultant, and later in ambulatory registration for Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. Eb loved cooking, travel and current events; he delighted in sharing his native Indian cuisine with family and work colleagues. He was a member of the Claflin Society of Boston University and a long-time alumni supporter of Iliff and Butler University. Calling Hours will be held on Monday, April 11th, at Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington Street, Brookline, MA from 2:00-4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boston University's School of Theology in memory of Ebenezer.
