Dorothy (Dorsey) C. Grandfield passed away peacefully on August 28, 2017. She was 96 years old. Born in Connecticut, she had been a resident of Brookline, MA for over thirty years. Dorsey attended the Mooreland Hill School in New Britain, CT and Kenwood Academy in Albany, New York. She graduated from Manhattanville College in 1943 with a degree in mathematics. During the 1940's she worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company in the engineering division. She is survived by her brother Mark Coholan of California, her daughter, Dorsey Grandfield and sons Michael and Peter Grandfield, all of Brookline, by her son Mark Grandfield and his wife Tova Ferro of New York, by her granddaughters Katharine Grandfield and Ava Grandfield, by her great-granddaughter Lillian Geary and by numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be held at St Mary of the Assumption Church in Brookline at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Visitation prior to the Mass from 8:45 - 9:30 in the Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington St., Brookline. Burial will take place on Martha's Vineyard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cape Cod Healthcare: CCHC Foundation, P.O. Box 370, Hyannis, MA 02601 or the American Red Cross.
