Donald "Don" McNamara, 47, of Brookline, MA passed away suddenly on Friday, August 18 at the home he shared with his life partner, Kathleen Manning. In addition to Kate, Don is survived by his mother Ann L. McNamara (KC), his brother Kevin McNamara (Brianne) and their sons Finnegan and Liam, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Don was the son of Ann L. McNamara and the late William McNamara of Mansfield Center, CT. Don received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1998 and went on to a successful career as a software engineer, most recently working at Mabl in Boston.

Don was constantly adventuring and exploring. Whether it was taking up guitar and piano, mountain biking all over New England, rock climbing, or taking yearly visits to Nantucket, he was always active and finding ways to enjoy the world around him. He was passionate about local issues, and worked to support bicycle infrastructure as a member of the Bicycle Advisory Committee.

Don was a listener. His focus and attention made everyone who met him feel special, cared for, and important. Regardless of age, creed or background he empathized and commiserated, laughed and cried.

A gathering for friends and family will be held Thursday, August 24, at Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington St. in Brookline, MA from 5 PM to 9 PM, with a brief Remembrance at 8 PM.
