Cristina Verme died peacefully in Boston, MA on Sunday, November 11th, accompanied by family and close friends. Born in Lima, Peru, Cristina was raised in a loving family, one of 8 children. She is survived by her sisters Elsa and Nely and her brother Javier, as well as 13 nieces and nephews and 27 great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Angel and Angelica Verme and a brother Carlos. She studied Interior Design before moving to the United States in 1960 to help develop numerous educational initiatives in the service of women and families in the Midwest, New York, and Boston. Professionally, Cristina worked in hospitality management services in the Centers of the Catholic organization Opus Dei. As part of the staff of Bayridge Residence and Cultural Center in Boston, she regularly gave courses and mentored women on how to find Christian joy and purpose in daily work and family life. A dear friend to many, Cristina was known for her faith-filled and optimistic outlook on life and her wise advice. She maintained her friendships over the years; many have expressed their gratitude for her attentive and loving concern. Visiting hours will be at Cedar Wood, 80 Lombard St., Newton, MA on Tuesday, November 13th from 3pm – 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 14th at 11am at Church of St. Lawrence, Chestnut Hill. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations in Cristina's memory can be made to Rosemoor Foundation or Bayridge Residence.
