RODDY, Carol A. (Zoehler) Of Brookline, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2026 at the age of 89.
Beloved wife of the late Thomas P. Roddy. Loving mother of Thomas J. Roddy (Kerry McGann), of Lakeville, and Carla J. Roddy (Matt Impastato), of West Roxbury. Adored Nana of Hudson Roddy and Lillian and Parker Impastato. Devoted daughter of the late Ferdinand B. and Mary K. (O’Hara) Zoehler. She was pre-deceased by her four beloved sisters and their husbands, Eleanor Lowe (Cornelius), Marie Smith (Joe) Joan Fitzpatrick (Bill) and Sally Lindstrom (Fred). Carol is also survived by her wonderful caregiver and dear friend, Ketlogetswe “Kate” Matebejana, and many cherished nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Carol was a lifelong resident of Brookline, attending the William H. Lincoln School and Brookline High School where she made close friendships lasting over 75 years. This past Spring she gathered with three friends from this era, including other former BHS cheerleaders. She served as the Secretary and friendly face of the Main Office at the John D. Runkle School in Brookline for over 20 years. This role was very meaningful to Carol and a place she made a positive impact on multiple generations of students.
Carol was loved by all who met her. She had a smile that lit up the room and a heart that knew no bounds. She was fiercely loyal, your biggest supporter and always had a seat open at her kitchen table – offering cheese & crackers, coffee cake and witty conversation. Carol was a woman of simple pleasures, her family and friends, a walk around the Brookline Reservoir, a good song on the radio and finding a great bargain. She made every visitor feel welcome in her home; the Roddy living room was the go-to destination on Christmas Eve for her children’s friends, well into their 20’s and beyond.
Carol will be remembered for the love she shared with her family and the special place she held in the hearts of those who knew her. Her family was her greatest joy, especially her beloved grandchildren, who brought her so much happiness. She leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and respect. She was cherished and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held at the Bell-O’Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington St., Brookline, on Tuesday morning, October 20, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass
at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Brookline, at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association. www.heart.org.
