Bonnie Lee Randall, 83, passed away on February 22, 2025, following a long illness.

Bonnie was born January 29, 1942, the daughter of the late Pierce and Althea Randall and sister of the late Sandra Anderson. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Nutt-Powell; her son, Jeffry Randall Powell (Allison); and her stepdaughters, Kirsten Alexander and Melita Noël. Other family includes a niece and nephew, godchildren, step-grandchildren, and a late stepson. She was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter, Caitlin Powell.

Born in Allentown, PA, Bonnie grew up in Macungie and Emmaus. After graduating from Emmaus High School, where she was voted Most Likely to Succeed, she attended Duke University on a full scholarship. At Duke, she met her first husband, Daryll Powell. After the birth of Jeffry, Bonnie and Daryll lived in Louisville, KY; Ithaca, NY; and Chapel Hill, NC. Bonnie worked at the state house in Raleigh and was active in the Democratic Party. Always an artistic and creative person, Bonnie helped to create and produce the marketing campaign for The Glue Factory, Daryll and Sandra's furniture store, which went on to win a Clio award in 1970.

Bonnie served as the managing editor of the Journal of the American Institute of Planners. She moved to Boston, MA, in 1974 and married Tom in 1975. They lived on Westbourne Terrace in Brookline for over forty years. Bonnie received a Master in City Planning degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and worked for more than 25 years at Abt Associates (now Abt Global) in Cambridge, beginning as a Research Associate and retiring as Vice President for Survey Operations. Two prominent projects she secured and led were the tracking of cases of chronic fatigue syndrome for the Centers for Disease Control and one related to the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), which collected data on participants for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for WIC agencies across the country. As Vice President for Survey Operations, she oversaw phone centers in Chicago, IL, and Hadley, MA, totaling approximately 200 interview stations. Bonnie was dedicated to her work and could be found in the early morning hours editing final drafts of proposals for potential funding. She was a true fan of the University of North Carolina's men's basketball and instituted the annual Abt in-house pool for the NCAA tournament. Bonnie was a friend, mentor, and colleague to many Abt staff.

With Tom, Bonnie was deeply committed to All Saints Parish in Brookline. She volunteered there in numerous capacities, including as coordinator of altar ministers, proofreader par excellence of the weekly bulletin and Parish Notes, chair of the altar guild, and junior warden. She was a fellow of the Vergers Guild of the Episcopal Church and routinely served on the altar as minister of ceremonies, lay eucharistic minister, and verger.

A longtime supporter of the arts, Bonnie served on the Board of Directors for the Boston Cecilia and was a faithful subscriber to the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Bonnie and Tom enjoyed summers at Agate Camp on Fourth Lake in the Adirondacks, where numerous friends and family would make the trek to be together. Bonnie was an avid reader, with a fondness for mysteries and biographies, and her dinner parties were legendary.

Funeral services will be held at All Saints Parish, 1773 Beacon Street, in Brookline on Saturday, March 1, at 10:30am. Donations may be made in Bonnie's name to All Saints Parish.
