In Loving Memory of Bonnie Joy Lawton

Bonnie Joy Lawton, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and accomplished professional, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2023, in Brookline, Massachusetts. She was born on May 8, 1942, in Cicero, Illinois, the daughter of Marilyn Shaw and the late Harold Banca. Tragically, Bonnie's father, Harold, lost his life in action aboard the U.S.S. Pennsylvania during World War II. She was lovingly raised by her mother and step-father, John Tuider.

In 1961, Bonnie entered into a lifelong partnership with James Lawton. Together, they built a family filled with love and warmth, raising three wonderful daughters, Lisa, Melissa, and Jamie and welcomed sons-in-law Jeb, Dan and Tom into the family. Bonnie took great pride in her role as a mother and later as a grandmother, finding immense joy in the presence of her seven grandchildren: Zephyr, Juliana, William, Christopher, Rachel, Harry, and Jeff. Additionally, she embraced two granddaughters-in-law, Raegene and Elina, and reveled in the happiness brought by her great grandchildren, Reagan and Alexander.

Bonnie was a woman of great intellect and ambition, earning a Bachelor's degree from Harvard University and later obtaining a Master's degree from Simmons College. She dedicated herself to a successful career as a business librarian, leaving an indelible mark at Fidelity Investments, Putnam, and Bain Consultants. Her passion for knowledge and dedication to her work inspired those around her, earning her the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Bonnie was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for her family and many friends and her dedication to shopping. Her legacy will live on through the memories shared by those fortunate enough to have known her.

A memorial service to celebrate Bonnie's life will be held on Thursday January 4th at St. Mary's in Brookline; Visitation 10 am, Funeral Service 11 am. Because of Bonnie's love of horses, dogs, cats and birds the family kindly requests that donations be made in her honor to the Animal Rescue League or the MSPCA-Angell.
