Obituary

Barry C. Kay of Brookline, age 70, died November 25, 2017. Survivors include his wife Karen Kay, mother Anne Connors, brother Robert Kay and his wife Barbara Kay, uncle and aunt William and Marilyn Horsley, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Alfred and Nancy Osborne and Lauri and Linda Rahnasto, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Barry was predeceased by his father Milton Kay and stepfather George Connors. A graduate of Anniston (AL) High School, Auburn University and Boston College Carroll School of Management, he served as project manager on major construction for Gilbane Building Company and other firms in Boston, New York City and, most memorably, Lake Placid, NY, for the 1980 Winter Olympics. He served as Treasurer, Trustee and Lay Leader of Old West Church United Methodist in Boston. A talented photographer and lover of classical music, he relished live concerts and created a remarkable collection of recordings. Friends and family are invited to visitation at 10:00 am on December 16, 2017 at Old West Church, 131 Cambridge St., Boston, followed by the funeral service at 11 am and burial at Walnut Hills Cemetery, Brookline. Validated parking is available for Charles River Plaza Parking on Cambridge St. using the underground entrance between Au Bon Pain and AT&T. Contributions in Barrys memory may be made to Old West Church. Bell-ODea Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
