Ann McCarthy, formerly of Brookline MA and Venice FL passed away on December 6, 2018. Born on June 8, 1931 in Palmer MA to James and Anna Donahue. On Sept 8 1956 she married Justin G McCarthy Sr (Moe) who predeceased her. Ann was a Dental Hygienist and a graduate of Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene. She worked for numerous dentists in Boston and Brookline over the years. Ann and Moe had 6 children - Ellen Kline of State College PA, Justin Jr of Holbrook, James (Mary) of Norwood, Michael (Anne) of Needham, Jane of Norwood and Carol (Scott Porro) of Dedham. Grandchildren are Tony McCarthy, Michael McCarthy Jr of Baumholder, Germany, Amanda McCarthy of Jamaica Plain, Carly McCarthy of San Francisco, Bethany Kline of Seattle, Sean, Kelly & Ryan McCarthy of Needham, Jacqui Flood & Allie Flood of Dedham, Tom Cafferty and Patrick Sirrico of Norwood. Ann was a full time Mom and managed a busy household. She had 6 children in 7 years! Both Ann and Moe loved to travel, and took the kids across the US in a camper several times. At a time when 2 were in diapers, there had to be good clothes for church and a laundromat visit every night. And no internet to search. As empty nesters they traveled the world always interested in culture and food. They loved to have a drink and to dance. She was predeceased by her sister Jane Branch and leaves her brother in law Paul Branch of Florida their children Mary, Dave and Dan. Ann and Jane had a special bond, and all their children remember them together, many times in fits of laughter over a family story. Wake will be Wed Dec 19 from 4 to 7pm at Bell O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington St, Brookline. Ann was an avid reader and spent many hours volunteering at the Venice Library. There was always a pile of books to be read.
